Environmental Protection
Environmental justice means protecting our mountains, farmland, and waterways while ensuring every community — rural, working-class, and historically overlooked — has access to clean air, safe water, and a healthy future. For too long, polluters and corporate interests have put profits over people. I believe our environment is a shared responsibility and a public trust.
Protecting Our Land and Waterways
From local creeks to the Tennessee River, our natural resources sustain our health, economy, and way of life. I support strong clean water protections, investment in modern water infrastructure, and enforcement against polluters that threaten communities and wildlife. Farmers and landowners deserve conservation programs that support sustainable agriculture, soil health, and climate resilience without sacrificing economic stability.
Environmental Justice for Every Community
Working families and low-income neighborhoods are too often placed closest to industrial pollution and environmental hazards. I will fight for stronger environmental monitoring, community-led decision-making, and clean energy investments that lower utility costs while improving public health. No child in District 3 should grow up breathing unsafe air or drinking contaminated water.
Innovation and Science for a Sustainable Future
The work happening at the Oak Ridge Y-12 National Security Complex and across Oak Ridge demonstrates how scientific research can drive breakthroughs in environmental protection, advanced materials, and ecological restoration. I support continued investment in responsible research and workforce development that helps our region lead in clean technology and environmental science.
Environmental justice means honoring the land we love while building a sustainable economy that benefits everyone — protecting our natural heritage, investing in science and clean energy, and ensuring every community has the right to a safe, healthy environment now and for generations to come.
